I am a Norwegian painter livng in the south part of Norway , in the community of Grimstad.
I worked 30 years as a lawyer, but 11 years ago I retired and started to paint full time.
My style and obsession have always been in a classical realistic and figurative genre with a modern twist and a story.
For me the aesthetics, the workmanship and the experiance in art have been very important, and I have studied and admired the old masters my whole life.
I have shown my works in several exhibitions in New York, London, Berlin, Milano etc.
My studio
This is a part of what The International Confederation of Art Critics wrote about me when I took part in an exhibition in London:
Sølvi Sanden,s diverse range of spectacular artworks fascinate the viewer with their ability to stimulate intellectual, spiritual and aesthetic dimensions, concealing beauty between the folds of existence and blurring the distinction between reality and figment. This Norwegian artist conveys intense emotions by illustrating incredibly refined figurative representations through cerebral and expressive subject matter. Sanden,s attention to intricate details, fine adorments and to every little nook and cranny of the imaginative universe, show a highly distinctive artistery that makes her an exceptional painter that transcends ordinary pictorial realism..
I paint always in oil on canvas/linen, and I use mostly handmade paints from Blue Ridge and Rublev, and paintbrushes from Rosemarys.
